The news has been received of the death yesterday of the German Jesuit priest Fr. Heinrich Pfeiffer in Berlin at the age of 82. Fr. Pfeiffer, a world renowned professor of the history of art and Christian iconography at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, was the foremost scholar of the Holy Face of Manoppello, whose groundbreaking and tenacious work was responsible for the knowledge of the Holy Face being spread far and wide throughout the world. This current generation and generations to come owe him a great debt of gratitude. May he rest in peace in the perpetual light of the Face of Jesus whom he loved and proclaimed so well.
