One of the unique characteristics of the Holy Face of Manoppello is that the Face of Jesus can be seen bearing many, even seemingly infinite expressions. It can be said that in the variety of moments over time the Face of Jesus in Manoppello shows Himself to be sorrowful, joyful, glorious and luminous. As well it can be said the Face of Jesus in Manoppello has all these characteristics at one and the same time. Without doubt the Holy Face as a historical reality is a help to our praying the Holy Rosary, taking to heart Blessed Pope John Paul II's description of the Rosary as "the school of Mary where we are led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ, in union with Mary and to experience the depths of his love." (Apostolic Letter "The Rosary of the Virgin Mary, number 1)
